Get Ubuntu Netbook Edition

 

Ubuntu guarantees regular updates and upgrades. They're free and easy to install.

When you're ready to upgrade to the next release of Ubuntu, you can do it over the web, with a USB or from a torrent. Simply choose the upgrade path that suits you best.

 

Before you start

  • You can only directly upgrade to Ubuntu 10.04 LTS from Ubuntu 9.10 (see upgrade notes).
  • Be sure that you apply all updates to Ubuntu 9.10 before you upgrade.
  • Before upgrading, it is recommended that you read the release notes for Ubuntu 10.04 LTS, which document caveats and workarounds for known issues in this version.

 

If you have a version of Ubuntu which was released before Ubuntu 9.10, please see the upgrade notes for more information on how to upgrade.

 

Web upgrade for Ubuntu netbooks (recommended)

It's easy to upgrade over the web. Just follow these steps:

  1. Start System/Administration/Update Manager.

  2. Click the Check button to check for new updates.

  3. If there are any updates to install, use the Install Updates button to install them, and press Check again after the process is finished.

  4. A message will appear telling you that the new release is available for download.

 

Click Upgrade. Follow the on-screen instructions.
